Our company – your chance

Apprenticeships at Beluga Shipping

The maritime economy in Germany with approximately 380.000 employees is a branch with very positive future prospects and a high macroeconomic impact. There are 60.000 people working in the industrial sector of shipping and the demand for new skilled recruits, especially navigating officers, engineers and ship mechanics is bigger than ever.

But not only jobs at sea are important for the maritime economy. That is why a strongly growing company like Beluga Shipping offers apprenticeships for many different commercial jobs. Because of our core business project and heavy lift shipping the main focus is on the training of shipping agents.

You completed your school career successfully?
Almost every tenth of the 450 employees at the Beluga headquarters in Bremen is an apprentice. It is part of our philosophy to make a professional apprenticeship possible for our trainees. Therefore the code of practice of the apprenticeships is built on the concept to involve our trainees as quick as possible in the work routine. We want to hand over challenging duties to you at an early stage in order to enable you to implement projects on your own.

For the development of an apprenticeship it is important that the trainees rotate through all departments within the company which are part of their occupational field. Finally, the apprentice works in that specific department in which motivation and individual qualifications have an ideal effect, so that a smooth transfer into the job is possible.

You are interested in an integrated degree?
For High-school graduates, who decide to start a career by an integrated degree program, Beluga offers two different main focuses: In the courses of studies “International Shipping and Chartering” and “Business Management” we enable you to connect your apprenticeship with a study course at the University of Applied Sciences in Bremen.

Application procedure
Every year on August 1st the new apprenticeship vintage begins. In September and December of the previous year we arrange a two-stage application procedure for the apprentices of the new vintage. In the first round you complete a written assessment center. After passing the initial test we want to get to know you in person and invite you to an interview.

Due to our early commitment to our Beluga apprentices – at the latest at the beginning of the new calendar year in which the start of the apprenticeship is planned – the selection process starts a year before. So please send us your application at least a year in advance.

We are looking forward to your application via e-mail to career@No Your documents should contain cover letter, curriculum vitae, certifications and work samples if existent. Please inform us in your cover letter which kind of apprenticeship you are interested in.
