Benefiz-Musikprojekt "HOME"

The child relief project “Beluga School for Life” was initiated after the tsunami disaster struck Thailand at Christmas 2004. The unique charity music project “HOME” came into being to generate financial support for setting up and operating the charitable facility.

Eight prominent German musicians put together a remarkable album on the first anniversary of the tsunami in December 2005: sung and recorded with orphans directly in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The artists appeared then, as now, without pay to help the Beluga School for Life and even more the hard-hit, but still smiling children in Thailand through the “HOME” charity music project. A dozen songs in German and English can be heard on the combined “HOME” CD/DVD on which different pop music styles are interlaced in part with elements of Thai music. In addition, poignant pictures document impressions and moods from the origins of “HOME”. The album also contains an animated film on the Thai nursery rhyme “Chang Song” (“The Song of the Elephant”).

The artists: Kai Wingenfelder (vocals: “Fury in the Slaughterhouse“), Astrid North (vocals: “Cultured Pearls“, solo), Maya Saban (vocals: “Music Instructor“, solo), Thomas Hanreich (vocals: “Vivid“, “Gods & Monsters“), Stephan Eggert (drums: “Selig“, “James Last Orchester“), Stephan Gade (bass: “The Land“, film music), Gunter Papperitz (keyboard: “Soulounge“, “JJ Liefers“), Henning Rümenapp (guitar: “Guano Apes“, solo) and producer Jens Krause (“Die Prinzen”, “Randy Crawford”, among others).

The concerts: in 2008 the eight musicians joined the members of the Bremen Philharmonic for two live charity performances. For the crossover concerts “HOME meets Classic“ for the benefit of the Beluga School for Life 60 artists altogether appeared at the Glocke in Bremen as well as at Staatstheater Oldenburg. There will be CD-DVD recordings of these concerts available. The proceeds of the sale benefit the Beluga School for Life.
