    heavy-lift cargo carriers

1999 CASTING OFF
Delivery of company’s first own new vessel: MV “Werder Bremen“

2000 UPSWING
Delivery of first four self-designed new multipurpose heavy-lift cargo carriers

2001 FIRST NEW SHORES
Market entry on international shores: Brazil and Singapore

2002 WEIGHING ANCHOR
Treaty of cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Oldenburg/East Friesland/Wilhelmshaven (today: Jade University of Applied Sciences Wilhelmshaven/Oldenburg/Elsfleth), Department of Maritime Studies in Elsfleth, aimed at promoting on-board maritime education and training

2003 GREAT VOYAGE

  • Acquisition of Dutch shipping company GenChart BV, Rotterdam, and integration of vessels and employees into the Beluga Group
  • Establishment of Beluga Shipping China Ltd. in Beijing

2004 FULL SPEED AHEAD

  • Acquisition of ten newbuilding contracts for multipurpose heavy-lift cargo carriers with capacity of 12,000 tons deadweight (tdw)
  • Preparation of establishment of Beluga Sea Academy as a separate educational institution

2005 TAILWIND

  • Establishment of Beluga Sea Academy
  • Integration of training vessels with separate cadet’s deck into commercial fleet
  • Opening of Beluga Shipping (America) Corporation in Houston, USA
  • Opening of Beluga Shipping China Ltd. in Shanghai
  • Preparation of a new generation of type vessels with crane gear for 800 to 1400 tons

2006 NAVIGATION
Planning and beginning of construction of new headquarters in Bremen

2007 LIGHTHOUSES

  • Delivery and christening of MV “Beluga SkySails”
  • Opening of Beluga Maritime Projects (PTY) Ltd. in Johannesburg, South Africa

2008 INNOVATION LEADER

  • Maiden voyage of MV “Beluga SkySails”
  • Opening of Beluga Projects (UK) Ltd. in London, Great Britain
  • Opening of Maritime Campus Elsfleth
  • Setting up of new in-house department “Research & Innovation”

2009 FURTHER NEW SHORES

  • Opening of Maritime Centre of Research in Elsfleth
  • Completion of and move into new headquarters on Teerhof in Bremen plus opening of in-house child care centre “Beluga Kids”
  • Opening of Beluga Projects (Norway) AS in Stavanger, Norway
  • Delivery of first unit of the new Beluga P series: MV “Beluga Houston” with combinable crane capacities of 800 tons
  • First commercial transit of Northern Sea Route with two Beluga vessels

2010 SUPER HEAVY LIFT

  • Opening of the “Beluga Projects Logistics” CSVC in Moscow, Russia
  • Delivery of the first unit of the new Beluga P-series with 1400 tons crane gear: MV “Beluga Bremen”
