At home on the world’s oceans – anchored in Bremen
In the Free Hanseatic city of Bremen, since the days of the German Steamship Company (DDG) “Hansa” representing the very heart of the German project and heavy lift shipping industry, the headquarters of the Beluga Shipping GmbH are located on the historical peninsula “Teerhof” (tar yard) at the banks of River Weser. Close to the new home which was moved into in 2009 the specialised shipping company was founded back in 1995 by the exclusive President & CEO Niels Stolberg.
Originally entering the stable niche market project and heavy lift as cargo operator (booking in cargo and matching them with adequate vessels), Beluga Shipping was consequently managed with strategic focus on know-how, flexibility and expansion and today is the leading specialist internationally for the shipment of sensitive, bulky modules and/or cargo difficult to be handled. The oil- and gas-industry, the offshore wind energy market, the extension of port infrastructure, the construction and modernisation of power plants and everything else large, heavy and complex: Within these core business areas the experienced experts of the Beluga Shipping GmbH fulfil customer requests worldwide by applying the modern fleet currently comprising about 70 multipurpose heavy lift project carriers.
The Beluga special vessels are divided into differently designed ship types each providing for a number of units identical in construction. Thus, generally at least one ideally suitable vessel is available to carry out any kind of individual transportation challenge. On-board crane capacities of up to 1400 tons in tandem usage on the flagships of the Beluga P-series, adjustable tween decks, large box-shaped holds, high ice classes and moderate bunker consumption enable the Beluga experts to efficiently operate the own fleet anywhere on the world independent from the local port infrastructure.
