At home on the world’s oceans – anchored in Bremen

In the Free Hanseatic city of Bremen, since the days of the German Steamship Company (DDG) “Hansa” representing the very heart of the German project and heavy lift shipping industry, the headquarters of the Beluga Shipping GmbH are located on the historical peninsula “Teerhof” (tar yard) at the banks of River Weser. Close to the new home which was moved into in 2009 the specialised shipping company was founded back in 1995 by the exclusive President & CEO Niels Stolberg.

Originally entering the stable project and heavy-lift niche market as a cargo operator (booking cargo and matching it to suitable vessels), Beluga Shipping was consistently managed with a strategic focus on know-how, flexibility and expansion and is today the leading international specialist for the shipment of sensitive, bulky cargo that is difficult to handle. The oil and gas industry, the offshore wind energy sector, expansion of port infrastructure, construction and modernisation of power plants and virtually anything large, heavy and complex: this is the core business of the experienced experts at Beluga Shipping GmbH, which meets the demands of its customers worldwide on the basis of a modern fleet currently comprising about 70 multipurpose heavy-lift cargo carriers.

The Beluga special vessels include differently designed ship types, each providing for a number of units identical in construction. This ensures that at least one ideally suited vessel is available for the respective specific challenge. Shipboard crane capacities of up to 1400 tons in tandem operation on the flagships of the Beluga P series, adjustable tweendecks, large box-shaped holds, high ice classes and moderate bunker consumption enable Beluga’s experts to efficiently operate the company’s fleet anywhere in the world, regardless of the local port infrastructure.
