”Jugend forscht” – “You want to know it!“

The youth research competition “Jugend forscht”, an equivalent to “Science Fair”, is Germany’s best-known youth competition and one of the biggest of its kind in Europe. Initiated by Henri Nannen back in 1965 now the 44th round of competition begins. Entries can be made until the end of November 2008. For the preliminaries at the Bremen Regional Contest North Beluga Shipping GmbH is the adopting company.

More than 10,000 entries were registered nationwide in the 43rd competition. With a yearly number of 400 to 500 participating pupils and students the small city state of Bremen is comparatively one of the most strongly participating federal states in the competition “Jugend forscht”. At the banks of River Weser the young researchers prove particular creativity and outstanding thirst for knowledge. With amazing, reasonable and innovative developments the participants enrich the fields of activity as being working environment, biology, chemistry, geosciences, mathematics and informatics, physics as well as techniques. The 44th round of competition is characteristically themed “You want to know it!”.

To qualify via the Bremen State Finale, which takes place in March 2009, for the great German Federal Contest in May 2009 the researcher-offspring have to convince the judging panel at one of the three regional contests. Being an innovative and creative shipping company itself Beluga Shipping GmbH assumes sponsorship, organisation and arrangement for the Regional Contest North on 19th and 20th February 2009 at the “Buergerhaus Vegesack”.

Young people until the age of 21 years and younger pupils who are at least in fifth year when registering to the competition, can participate in “Jugend forscht”. Single participants and groups with a maximum of three members are allowed. Entries can be made until 30th of November 2008 on the website www.jugend-forscht.de.
